Pest Control Solutions

Try These Solutions On Pest Control

Everyone has had to deal with mosquitoes at one point or another in their lives. We all hate the pests, but what do you do about them? Mosquitoes can be kept away with repellents in sprays, creams, sticks, and liquids. You can even go the health care route and take garlic capsules, even the odorless ones will work, to make you less desirable to their bites. Believe it or not, the mosquito is very beneficial to a few species in the natural progression of the food chain. Not humans of course, but maybe, in a round about way.

If you have rainbow fish, you will probably want to feed them their preferred live food, mosquito larva. Many people do not realize how simple it can be to setup your own mosquito larva farm. If you want to cultivate your own mosquito larva, you can do so by establishing a bucket or tub outside filled with fresh water, which is in partial shade. Not sure how many of you are fish farmers out there, but here's a little tip for benefiting from those nasty bugs.

Once you have set up your tub, you will want to put some drifting weeds in the water for the mosquitoes to land on and lay their eggs. Once you observe egg rafts, spoon them into a container with a mesh lid cover until the eggs hatch into larva. Then you can easily pour the mosquito larva from the jar directly into your aquarium to feed your rainbow fish. This is a simple yet effective way to keep your fish happy and thriving. Don't forget about your little fish food farm however, or you will have cultivated a new pesky pet that will be happy to stay around.

Mosquitoes can quickly infest your neighborhood and many of the adjacent areas around it. If you are trying to prevent mosquitoes from hatching anywhere near your home, don't raise fish! Just kidding, or course! But if you are trying to prevent mosquito's from breeding and infesting your home and you have a lot of standing water sources such as fountains or birdbaths, you can purchase mosquito dunks to place in the water, which will kill mosquito larva. Dunks generally work up to 30 days, and you will know how many to use depending on how big the water area is. The dunks have a biological agent that kills the mosquito when ingested, but is safe for all other animals and humans. Something to consider with family and family pets around.

Try various kinds of these pest control solutions to kill the small skeeters. Again, some pest control methods work better than others while some are more expensive than others as well. Try them out until you find the one that gives you the relief from those swarms of buzzing mosquitoes. Finally you may want to attempt netting which works the best when living out of doors for fun and leisure. Netting is so small that the mosquitoes cannot cash in on one's chips through it or have dinner on your arm, doing a great job keeping you protected from them. Enjoy the summer, and keep the mosquito's from putting a damper on your fun!
